I have a 1961 MF35 with a Perkins Diesel. The Thermostart has been removed, but could be hooked up with a short copper tube and a wire. Is this system functional and reliable for cold starts?
thanks,

Hello friends!
The thermostat is indispensable for the correct functioning of any engine. The engines need a correct temperature of work and if there is no thermostat, the engine always works too much cold. What provokes a lack(mistake) of performance and a great wear of the engine.
In the owners manual of my Lanz 4090, it is possible to read that the wear can be ten times a Superior if one works with the cold engine I have a MF 65 and one MF 135: excellent tractors!.

| I was referring to the "Thermostart" system and not the thermostat. I have subsequently gotten the system up and working and it seems very effective for cold starting the diesel. I understand that lots of Case skid loaders have this same device for cold starts. |
